I’m beyond excited to announce that a revised edition of From the Piney Woods will soon be released—though we’re keeping the official date under wraps for now. I can’t wait for you to see the new version, crafted to bring you closer to PJ’s journey with even greater detail and depth. But the exciting news doesn’t end there. As I revisited PJ’s story, I found myself inspired to begin work on additional books in the series, digging even deeper into her life.

In From the Piney Woods, PJ learns the difference between joy and happiness—a lesson that carries her through even the darkest moments. She discovers that while happiness is often tied to life’s ups and downs, joy is a steady foundation we can rely on. It’s a choice, something you can carry with you regardless of circumstances, a source of inner strength that can transform even the most challenging times. PJ’s story reveals how even when the worst happens, we can choose joy in the blessings around us if we choose to look. As PJ’s momma always told her, she was “born with a smile on her face,” a reminder that joy has been ever-present within her from the start.

And now, PJ’s journey continues in the upcoming second book, Branching Out. With this next chapter, readers will dive into PJ’s life as she enters her second marriage, learning to navigate the complexities of blending families. Her challenges only deepen as she works through the financial and emotional complexities of sharing responsibilities, especially as a mother fiercely protective of her son, Kyle. In Branching Out, you’ll see PJ’s journey to find trust in her new husband, Tim, and the faith to allow him to take on a role as head of the household, after years of doing it all herself. Revisiting PJ’s journal entries has been a powerful reminder of her resilience, and I’m so thrilled to be able to share more of her journey with you.
